Sorell kids put Christmas on hold this weekend to indulge in their passion for football.
The youngsters turned up to take part in the Sorell Carols By Candlelight event only to stick on their trainers and start smashing home some goals in an AIA Vitality MiniRoos kick-about.
Football Federation Tasmania’s Football Participation Officer Andy Rhodes organised the match and was delighted when over 30 kids opted to ignore the festive event and get among the goals instead.
The game only came to an end when Santa made an appearance later in the evening to hand out presents.
Football is growing in popularity at a rapid rate in Sorell, with two recently established clubs thriving in the municipality, which sits to the east of Hobart.
