What is Coles MiniRoos?

Coles MiniRoos is Football Australia’s official introductory football program for kids aged 4–11 where fun, safety, and inclusion come first. It focuses on maximum enjoyment through small-sided games and age-appropriate activities.

What is the difference between Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off and Coles MiniRoos Club Football?

Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off is our introductory football program for kids aged 4-11, focus is on short game-based sessions and is a perfect first football experience.

Coles MiniRoos Club Football is perfect for kids who are ready to play in a team. It uses small-sided games (4v4, 7v7, 9v9) to give younger players more touches, more involvement, and more opportunities to score.

Is Coles MiniRoos suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. Coles MiniRoos is designed for children of all experience levels, including complete beginners.

Can girls join Coles MiniRoos?

Yes! Coles MiniRoos is mixed gender, and many clubs also offer girls only options, including MiniTillies within the Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off program.

Is Coles MiniRoos safe?

Yes. Coles MiniRoos is designed to be a safe and supportive environment for all kids. All providers follow Football Australia’s child safeguarding requirements, and coaches and volunteers must hold valid Working with Children Checks.

Activities and games are also designed to be age-appropriate, low-contact, and delivered in a safe, inclusive way, ensuring every child can participant confidently.

What days and times does Coles MiniRoos run?

Program days and times vary depending on the type of program and your local club. There are plenty of options available, with sessions offered across different days and time slots. Use the Program Finder to find one that suits your schedule.

How do I register my child?

After choosing the program that best suits your child use our Program Finder to search for your local club or provider and complete your registration online.

No programs in my area, what do I do?

Email miniroos@footballaustralia.com.au with your suburb and we will inform you of any upcoming options.

Does every Coles MiniRoos kid receive a participant pack?

No. Only children registered in a Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off program receive a participant pack, and it’s provided once per calendar year, at their first registration.

What is Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off?

Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off is an entry-level, fun-first introduction to football with no teams or weekly matches. Children learn skills through games and activities.

What is MiniTillies?

MiniTillies is an initiative of the Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off program, designed as an introduction to football for girls.

What age is Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off for?

Generally, for children aged 4-11, depending on local club or provider.

How long does a Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off program run?

Programs typically run for 4-12 weeks, with a 30-60 minute weekly session.

Do kids need football experience to join Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off?

No experience is need. Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off is perfect for kids wanting their first football experience.

What will my child learn?

Basic football skills, balance, coordination, teamwork and confidence through fun, play-based activities.

Do I need to stay during each session?

Yes. A parent or guardian must remain at the venue for supervision and safety. Kids also love having someone nearby to share their new skills and excitement with. Your presence helps make the experience even more enjoyable for them.

How do I prepare for my child’s first Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off session?

To get ready for your child’s first session, make sure they arrive with comfortable sports clothing, sneakers and a water bottle. If they’ve received their participant pack, they can wear their Coles MiniRoos shirt along to each session.

It’s also a good idea to arrive a little early so they can meet the Program Leaders who will be delivering the fun session. And most importantly, offer plenty of encouragement as your support helps them feel confident and excited for their first Coles MiniRoos experience!

What’s included in the Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off participant pack?

Each registered Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off (Mixed and MiniTillies) participant receives a Coles MiniRoos pack (provided once per calendar year, at their first registration) which may contain Coles MiniRoos shirt, football, backpack and other fun goodies for our amazing sponsors Coles and Milo.

What are the Coles MiniRoos shirt sizes & colours?

The Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off program offers a range of shirt sizes ranging from 4 to 16, designed to comfortably fit children up to 11 years old.

Participants shirts are provided in two colours – green or gold. Colours are randomly allocated and cannot be selected or changed. Please click here to view the size guide

What if my child's shirt size is wrong?

The selected size in your registration is final except where Australia Consumer law requires otherwise.

When will I receive my participant pack?

All orders are shipped from our Melbourne warehouse and usually takes between 7-14 business days to reach most locations around Australia through AusPost delivery.

If you have not received your participant pack after this time to the postal address that you listed on your registration form, please email miniroos@footballaustralia.com.au with your child's registration details. Distribution of Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off participant packs will begin at the end of January 2026.

Can my child move into Coles MiniRoos Club Football after Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off?

Yes! If your child is ready to play in a team they can transition into Coles MiniRoos Club Football at any time.

Refund policy for Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off participants?

Refund form must be completed within 7 days of registration. Program Fee refunds are determined by the Program Administrator (club). If participant pack has already shipped, this may reduce the refundable amount.

Which registration platform do we use for Coles MiniRoos?

Coles MiniRoos currently uses two different registration platforms, depending on the type of program your club is delivering:

Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off is registered through the GameDay platform.

Coles MiniRoos Club Football is registered through the PlayFootball platform.

What support does Football Australia and Member Federations provide?

Coach education, safeguarding guidance, marketing assets, national branding through Coles and also competition support for Coles MiniRoos Club Football along with program support and resourcing for Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off.

Where do clubs access resources?

Clubs can download resources and promotional materials through Coles MiniRoos Club Resource Hub.

Exclusive club benefits?

Clubs delivering Coles MiniRoos may gain access to exclusive Football Australia event opportunities, including Coles MiniRoos activations that take place at selected CommBank Socceroos and CommBank Matildas national team matches, giving kids unforgettable moments on the big stage.

Are participant packs and club equipment provided for Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off?

Yes! Each registered participant receives a participant pack once per year, at their first registration. Packs include a shirt, ball, backpack, and other fun goodies. Shirt colours are green or gold, randomly allocated.

Each club will also receive a deliverer kit containing goals, footballs, markers, bibs, and session guide to help run sessions smoothly. These packs and kits ensure both kids and clubs have everything they need for a fun, safe, and engaging Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off experience.

What is required to run a Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off program?

To deliver a Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off program, clubs must:

Submit a Site Application and Program Form to register the venue and program details with Football Australia
Register participants through GameDay registration platform
Allocate Program Manager and Program Leaders to safely lead sessions
Access a suitable venue, such as a football pitch or open recreation space
Deliver sessions using the Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off Deliverer Kit, which includes goals, footballs, cones, bibs and session guide
Ensure parent or guardian supervision during sessions for child safety.

Following these steps ensures every Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off session is fun, safe and engaging, while giving clubs the support and resources they need to run a successful program.

How do we set up a Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off program as a club?

Complete and submit the online Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off Site Application Form and Program Form; our Coles MiniRoos team will then contact you with the next steps.

Breakdown of Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off participant registration fee?

The Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off registration fee is made up of two parts: a $35 Football Australia fee per participant, which covers national program support, participant packs, and administration, and a program fee (club component) that varies by club to cover local costs such as facility hire, coach payments, and other program expenses.

How can I see who has registered and paid?

Please email miniroos@footballaustralia.com.au and our Coles MiniRoos team will connect you with the Coles MiniRoos Lead in your Member Federation who can provide reports and also train you to use the Coles MiniRoos Program Manager system.

What's included in the Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off deliverer kit?

Clubs running Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off programs receive a deliverer kit to help run fun and safe sessions.

Clubs are provided with 1 kit per 20 registered children annually, up to a maximum of 3 kits per calendar year. Each kit contains goals, footballs, markers, bibs, and coaching resources to support volunteers and coaches in delivering high-quality sessions

What is Coles MiniRoos Club Football?

Coles MiniRoos Club Football is team-based football for children aged 5-11, with weekly training and small-sided weekend matches.

How often will my child train and play in Coles MiniRoos Club Football?

Most teams train once per week and play one match on the weekend.

What are the game formats for Coles MiniRoos Club Football?

U6-U7: 4v4

U8-U9: 7v7

U10-U11: 9v9

Are Coles MiniRoos Club Football games competitive?

No. Coles MiniRoos Club Football does not record scores and points tables do not exist. The focus is on fun, skill development, teamwork and participation.

Can my child play with their friends?

Most clubs will try to accommodate friendship requests, especially in the younger age groups.

Are there any girls only options for Coles MiniRoos Club Football?

Yes! Through the Coles MiniRoos, girls can participate in small-sided football by joining dedicated all-girls teams. This allows them to play alongside friends of the same age in a supportive, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate environment. These teams compete against other all-girls teams, helping to build confidence, encourage skill development, and foster a strong sense of belonging and community.

How long is the season?

A typical Coles MiniRoos Club Football season runs for 16-20 weeks, depending on your region.

Are matches refereed?

In Coles MiniRoos Club Football, U6-U9 games are supervised by a Game Leader who is often a trained parent. U10-U11 may use official referees depending on the local association.

What does registration fees cover?

Coles MiniRoos Club Football registration fees may include insurance, club membership, uniforms, coaching, equipment, facility hire and matchday costs.

What if my child is new to football?

Coles MiniRoos is beginner friendly. Clubs support children of all experience levels. If your child is not ready to play in a team, Coles MiniRoos Kick-Off might be a more suitable option.

What happens after Coles MiniRoos Club Football?

Children will move into youth football from about age 12. Your club will guide you through the transition.

What does a club need to deliver Coles MiniRoos Club Football?

How should teams be formed?

U6-U9 should focus on social connections, friend groups, and balanced teams.

U10-U11 should have light grading can be used for the purpose of assigning teams to appropriate leagues, ensuring the most enjoyable experience for all players.

What are the coach requirements?

All coaches should complete the Coles MiniRoos coaching certificate and have a valid Working with Children Check.
